Barbu de Watermael thread?

Pics
Melted them all off, I'm assuming new ones will replace them that will be bigger and better.

You know, I'm not sure how much all that floof affects their vision. They seem very alert to things flying above them. They peck things accurately from my fingertips. I'm going to say yes they all see just fine, even the ones that look like they can't. If chicken's eyes faced forward like ours on their heads, I think they'd be blind as bats.
I assume you mean molted but for a moment I was like, you melted her feathers just to get bigger ones?

Here is a picture of Jasper 3 or 4 weeks ago, before she lost her tail. I kind of assume her new feathers will look very close to her old ones. They do not look like those solid color feathers your hen has it seems. Does she have a poor tail?

So are they bigger then your D'anvers?
Watermael hens are supposed to be in that 550g area as adults. I think d'anvers hens are 650. That makes Watermael a smaller bird.

That said. My d'anvers hens are either huge or fat or both. My red millefleur d'anvers is a porky princess, she weighed a whopping 880 grams last weigh in.

Here's a picture of Amber next to Constellation. I'm hoping her hugeitude is because she's top hen.

The tail feathers should have the yellow edging like the pic.
She’s definitely just a light black quail based on this picture. It’s just so bluish in the other ones. Maybe lighting, who knows.
In quail females the black should be a chocolatey black and this picture shows this.

Looking at Belgian show standards. The d’anver are broad at shoulders and thick set. The watermael are broad at the shoulders and get slimmer as the go back. The d’anver chest is high. The watermael is more forward. The watermael tail is lower. I like this diagram that shows the difference
