BARE BACK HEN

I have a hen who lost feathers this spring from our rooster. The rooster has been gone all summer and her feathers have not grown back. It is a pretty large area. Can she survive a winter in Wisconsin with a bare back?

I would suggest a hen saddle. They're made specifically for this sort of thing, and it will cover the area where she lost her feathers and keep her warm and protected while they grow back. I make my own, and they'r easy to find patterns for. If you're handy with a needle, you can also buy them for fairly cheap. A couple people sell them in the BST section of the forums.

A quick solution Nashua Tape R 357 over the bare back portion of the hens back to form a chicken saddle.
