I'm beyond excited!!! One of my two (I have a good idea of which one) Easter Egger pullets just layed a tiny olive egg, its about 1 3/4 inches long and 1 inch wide. They are both barely 16 weeks old!!!! Their birthday is April 3, so Monday they will be 16 weeks!! I"m estatic because I wasn't expecting an egg for at least another 2 months! When I came back this morning from my volunteer Fish Resque, my 4 pullets were free ranging and I only saw 3 out of 4, then I called a couple times which usually all sends them running my way, but not the missing one, I went and looked and found her sitting under a fir tree and acting like a hen who is about to lay an egg, so I left her alone, she got on and off the "nest" a couple times and when I got back from Wal-Mart today, there was a tiny olive egg waiting for me under that tree! :eek:Now, she is with her 4 fellow pullets, 1 her age and 2 other ones that are 12 weeks, should I start her on a laying feed? or should I wait until the other ones are older to avoid the other ones eating too much calcium???
Thanks in advance:weee:weee:D

I have several about the same ages as yours, but no eggs yet.

I'm going to put out a dish of oyster shell for the older girls to eat free will. Supposedly the youngsters won't have a taste for it yet. When my youngest birds have reached 16 weeks, I will switch all of them to layer feed.

Oh, wow am I jealous! LOL-- My girls are 21 weeks old and still no eggs...

I would offer them oyster shell.. and continue to feed what you are for another few weeks..

Wonderful.

I have a Blue Ameraucana pullet who will be 1 year old in September who has yet to lay an egg.

Thank you all for your replies.
Mahonri, I am terribly sorry that she hasn't layed yet. I wonder why and I imagine you must be dying of curiousity as well! Maybe there is something not quite right with her with her egg tract or something????

My 8 EE's are 20 weeks old now and I'm checking every day for an egg, but none so far. Since they are now free ranging, I'm afraid they won't use their nesting boxes, but instead will find a place in the yard to lay.

Are you concerned that she'll continue laying under the tree or elsewhere in the yard?
