Barley grass

I am contemplating feeding my laying hens sprouted barley grass (fodder) and my question is, what are the pros and cons of giving fodder to laying hens?

I would feed it when it's fairly short. It will have retained some of the protein and taller fodder is more appropriate for cattle, sheep, etc..
