To others reading this: a heat lamp mounted properly so it can not possibly touch anything or fall should not cause a problem so long as the wiring is sound and the power to the building is sufficient for the wattage. Dot the i's and cross the t's when doing this though, so that there is no error on any of these things. My ceramic heat lamp is bungee corded umpteen times to the 2x4 rafter that it hangs from. The only risk I can think of under these circumstances is if the universe is cruel enough to have a tree fall on the building and pull it down. I pray not. I have a roo that gets cold easily so the heat makes him happy and I just always hope that my diligence is enough to keep him safe. I only have 2 birds so there's not a lot of body heat going on....
