Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

109 here yesterday and a lovely cool 106 today. All my chickens have wading pools so that keeps them cool enough. Summer sucks

Yep, I don't understand when people say "Yaaa, it is summer"

Guess that is what people up North think when I say "Yaaaaa, it is winter"

Good news for me, so far we have not gone over 100, after last year that is the best news ever. People were selling off cattle and goats like crazy and practically giving horses away. It was so sad.

well, that gives me a shred of hope.

here are some pictures...not great but perhaps you can tell something?

These were the best ones I was able to snap...jeeze, the chickens move quickly. and my camera moves slow.

oh, sorry...yeah. I was wondering if there was even a remote chance I had anything but roos. seems like I got more than my share and I keep staring at them willing them to be hens but it aint workin'

Okay here are mine. They are 3 weeks. Question is their shoulder feathers, 2 have none and one is an obvious Roo. However, on the others they have shoulder feathers some more some less but NONE have a have the comb that Roo 1 has :) These are my Trisha babies

See him at the far back? He is a boy, big comb already and he is actually really nice. Then the one with its back to the pic also does not have shoulder feathers. However, these are are only two without shoulder feathers.

See the shoulder feathers in this group

Only a little shoulder feather

Lots of shoulder feather

What are you asking? Gender? If yes, I say 1 Roo for sure, maybe 1 pullet.
I'd say still a wait & see game. From what I can see I do see a little color in the chest but is it enough to say pullet or roo? I can't say either way. That you'll have to wait & see. Maybe you could get a picture of each with their chests to the camera?
