Barnevelder, Hen or Roo?

No, and it is a shame. I'm sure the bird was sold as a Barnevelder, so it is probably another case of a unscrupulous seller duping a customer. And that makes it tougher on all of us who sell birds because buyers are suspicious, and rightly so.

Tis why I only buy at poultry shows and sell there too. After a good judging from the poultry judge, and of course a bird placing best of breed and the such, there is no doubt it's pure bred. I never buy stock off Craigslist or Kijiji

Oh, if he is not pure bred I am not surprised.
I am trying to get some eggs from some better breeders now.
These chickens are 21 weeks old..

Looking from the pictures posted, it doesn't look pure bred, the comb doesn't have any points on it

Then it is most likely a pullet at that age. It should be laying or very near to it, too.

Edit- the more I look at that bird, the more I think it is a slow developing cockerel. Those curled tail feathers should be gone by now if it was a pullet. I'm still not 100%-- this bird is tough, but I lean cockerel. Let us know when it crows or lays an egg
