Here is our barnyard mix rooster... Pipit!

I love barnyard mixes! They are so unpredictable and unique! Some people think they are a pain when they are trying to breed purebreds, which can be true, but I love them all the same.

So please join and chat with me about your mixes! This is your chance to brag! All mixed-breeds welcome, mixed-varieties/colors too! Pictures are encouraged!

I currently have two Old English Game Bantam/silkie mixes, a brother and sister about three months old. I am loving how their plumage is coming in! I don't have any pictures right now but plan on getting some tomorrow!

Another mix of mine passed away recently. She was a bantam Orpington/silkie mix. Her name was Ro (pronounced Roe, but short for Robin Hood). I don't have any pictures of her but she was mostly coal black with a few dark grey feathers. She had partially feathered feet and cheek puffs as prominent as any Auracauna. RIP my precious chick.

Please join the party!

Here are some pictures of my mixes! Their dad is a spangled Old English Game Bantam and their mom (possibly moms) is a buff silkie. Heather is the girl and Picket is the boy (they are named after characters in the Green Ember series). Sadly, I have to downsize my flock, but I am hoping to find a good home for this pair!
They're beautiful!

I like my pure breeds because of their specific and predictable desired traits but its so much fun hatching out mixes. Colors, barring, what eggs will they lay. Etc. Its like a box of chocolates... yah never know whatcha gonna get. and yes I said that in forest Gump voice.
I am hoping to do planned breeding because we dont keep track of whose eggs are whose, we usually get white and tan chicks, it drives me nuts!

Our profiles look like they are looking at each other :lau
Cute profile by the way!

I did a mix hatch and seemed most of mine came out some sort of gray colors. We had a white silke roo and a black reject ameraucana roo in the mix. Only one came out with 5 toes and a fluffy afro hat and only one came out with muffs & beard. Lol

I have some black pendesencas and trying to find some true ameraucanas to make olive Eggers with my cull roos.
Also have a blue French copper maran i'll put over an ameraucana for the same.
Ooh, nice breeds! We have some olive eggers! Do you know what you might get out of the mix?
And what are pendesencas?
