Barred Buff Cochins

The barring is usually more pronounced in males when they have two barring genes. It what is called 'dose dependent'.
Males with one barring gene have barring (or cuckoo) much like the females.

the reason her barring isn't as pronounced is it is lighter. the lighter buff color of the hens makes their barring a little harder to see. that's why i always keep an eye out for a really dark buff hen or two to use.
