Assuming these are the only parents of your chicks, then they are sex linked.

The solid colored birds will be your girls, and the barred ones will be the boys. The barring gene is responsible for the dot on the head, so the solid chicks are girls. Dots are boys.

All the ones with dots on their heads are boys. Quick, take them to the feed store!n

been trying for so long to figure out what this dang bird of mine is...and now i finally get it--i have a barred EE! it's only been in the last week that her comb started looking pea-ish. do you think so?

i can't believe my luck! she must be out of donnie's eggs that i hatched (he has EEs and AAs running together) or some weird throwback genetics from my partridge EE X pure black java roo.

no puffy cheeks though? but that is a pea comb, yes? not as pronounced as some of my other ees. probably a blue-based egg though, if i understand the 94% correlation genetically b/t comb and egg color. this is GREAT! i also have marans, and EEs...the possibilities!

Hi! The 'barred green-egger' project is not dead here.
My barred / blue barred green-egger girls are getting 'clean' (no rooster for 3 weeks), so I can change up the breeding pens and go on to the next generation.
One of the barred green-egger girls will get her own Ameraucana guy (those will be sex-linked and I can use an 'improved' barred male from that cross). The blue barred guy that was in that pen will get an Ameraucana hen (half the chicks will be barred and half will be solid).
The rest of the barred green-egger girls will get one of the barred cockerels (as soon as I can figure out which, if any, are BB OR I might just use them for another project. They are nice big chunky girls and my NFGE (Naked Neck, frizzled, etc) line could use a boost.
It's all good!
