barred easter egger?

Hey I love this thread also! Here is a couple of pictures of a couple of EE chicks. These are Rhodebar cockerel / black and lavender amerucauna hens. They are colored just like RB chicks but I do not think the dot on head is related to the sex link gene. Anyways going to be fun to see these grow up.

These here are Oliver eggers cuckoo Marans over lavender and black amerucauna hens. Except for the red chicks those are another project we are working on.

Both of those mating's will produce 100 % barred chicks . Males will have 1 copy of the barring gene . Not able to sex as all chicks have 1 barring gene .

Thanks, I knew that about the barring genes. I like the look of barred birds. I ran across this thread and thought I would post a few pictures. I have done the cuckoo roo/ amerucauna cross many times before. Had some nice OE from the cross.

Thanks for this thread. I learned a lot so far. Most of the genetics is way over my head. I didn't know there were so many variables to get the barring.
I really want a barred easter egger. I was just given eggs to hatch (I have a broody sitting on them now) from a Dominique rooster (BYC memember) over some of his easter egger hens. All the eggs were blue. Will I get some barred pullets from these eggs?

The Dominique will have 2 barring genes . All chicks from this mating will be barred . The males will have 1 barring gene .

No . Females can only have 1 barring . So all chicks will only have 1 barring gene making sexing unreliable .

My chicks from jerryse's eggs are hatching today! So far there is 5! I'm pretty sure 3 are pullets but they are not completely Dry yet.
