barred easter egger?

Pics
Am getting an EE cockerel tomorrow to replace my aggressive BR roo. I see a lot of posts here for BR roo over EE hen. I would love it if any of you who have EE roo over BR hen could post some pics? Curious as to what the babies will look like!!

Go back and look at all the posts. Lots of first generation pics. Not really much different from current generation. First generation usually have modified pea comb and single copy for beard. If using EE you may get a single comb and or no beard. BR or cuckoo marans are used because all the chicks will be barred. Cockerels will be single copy. If you use barred hens and a EE that is not barred that is a sex linked cross and all pullets will not be barred and all cockerels single copy barred. I have moved past first generation birds but there are some pics from last year of mine starting on page 16.

Ok, can you tell me that in kindergarten terms? LOL...first generation, single copy, etc....I'm less than a year in raising chickens, so pretend like you're talking to a 5 year old

I picked my new guy up today. His mama is Americauna, daddy is Chocolate Orpington. Here's a picture:

The link listed is a good one. You picked a complex setup for a simple answer. If you use barred hens you will get solid colored hens and barred males. Some single combs some clean faces some brown egg layers. Some pea combs some beards and olive green to greenish blue eggs. Throw in sex linked chocolate and well its just like a box of chocolates you never know what you might get. Yes it is predictable but it makes my head hurt trying to do the percentages. Too much for a 5 year old. Have fun.

Here are some pics of my cuckoo pullet at the Fowl Fest show in Michigan. The first step in becoming a project color. She was the only cuckoo entered but it is start.
Jerry they are looking great

1. If you crossed a barred female with a buff male, then the female chicks do not have a head spot and the males do have a head spot.
2 if you breed a barred female to a non barred male -only the male chicks will be barred and the females will not be barred. yellow legs female x male slate legs = all chicks will have slate or blue legs
muffs and beard is an incompletely dominant trait- your female with muffs and beard x no muffs and beard = some muffs and beard chicks and some no muffs and beard

Tim
Thanks Tim great info.
