Barred Hollands **update: PICs ADDED

If they have red earlobes, I'd say Hollands. If white, I'd say California Grays. The roosters look like CGs, but could be BHs. I'm not an expert on either breed, though. Seems they are both rather rare. Looks like yours have red earlobes, right? Had to research on the earlobe color of CGs before I could decide.

Welp has CGs. Here's their pic...white earlobes.

The ear lobes really look more grayish, they look whiter on the roo I just posted but you don't see that white on the hen in the earlier pic. They really do not stand out as being much different in color than the birds themselves. (sorry I meant to get this on the other post, guess I should have type it then did the pic, huh?)

Ah, I believe you are looking at the ear coverts. That's the covering over the ear hole. The earlobe is the reddish part hanging below the ear coverts behind the wattles.

Your birds' wattles appear to be red.

Thanks for the needed education. Definitely red ear lobes.

This is getting very interesting: I talked to the guy who does the chicks at TSC; they use Privett Hatchery out of New Mexico.
These came from a straight run, mixed breed shipment.

I called Privett and they have Barred Leghorns: white ear lobes and California Gray/production that have white ear lobes. They do not have a catalogue or web site with breeds and pics.

Bottom line is everyone else says these birds do not exist in my backyard and yet they are here.

Medium, very white eggs, red lobes (now that I know what I'm looking at) etc. If I sell eggs or chicks what breed do I tell folks they are getting?

Also when do roos become fertile?

I appreciate all you great "Ch"ectives helping with my mystry chicks.

I've only seen the ones on Welp's website and they have white lobes. Maybe there is some disparity between the strains of them? I'm just not sure since I am no expert on either the CGs or the BHs. But, Carolyn's definitely have red earlobes.

LOL, me either Cyn. There is just so much conflicting information on this here internet...LOL. I would suspect that beings that they are a cross of white leghorns and barred rocks, they would be white lobed as a general rule.
