Are they a viable choice for dual purpose free range chickens? Thanks.

Leghorns, and most Mediterranean breeds, tend to be flighty. They are light-weight birds that are not suitable for dual-purpose flocks if the goal is a decent sized bird for the table.

Agree totally. Mediterranean breeds = flighty. Good for egg production, not so much for large eating birds. With exception of Minorcas, they get much bigger than say Leghorns. But black pin feathers suck!
