Barred Muscovy babies

Oh, I wouldn't give up on chocolate. They're gorgeous. Especially if you have a dedicated set to breed. It's mixing them that's the pain. I do a lot of mix colors, so for me it's SO hard to keep track of chocolate, especially with dusky. The rainbow of colors is so fun.

Besides, once you get used to it, it's pretty easy. Like, with your pied duck... light colored stippling on the head? Wild type. A few months ago that baby would have had an eye stripe and four yellow or white dots on his back. Wild type get random white.

:frowHi. I have a rescue barred black muscovy duckling male - 4 weeks hand - raised. Need to rehome A.S.A.P. Pet Only, No Consumption. I'm in Florida and will deliver in-person to a loving family in FLORIDA ONLY. Has a peaceful temperament and eats right out of your hand! View attachment 1706699 [email protected]

Hi @B&B duck lady did you talk with @Thejperez about face book?
Hi Miss Lydia. Thejperez gave me valuable information, she started a FB page for locals. The problem is I can't have a FB page for locals. In Miami muscovies are mistreated by crazy people. I should start one for the rest of Fl. except Miami. I told her I'd like to go to her FB page so that I have an idea how to start one. I may have some luck that route. Do you know anyone that may be interested in adopting a rescue where you live? I don't kow where to put him anymore, he's growing so fast. I have him inside the bathroom that's not in use. That's only temporary, off course. I was thinking of buying a dog crate or a baby corral, something larger. I need ideas. He barely fits where I have him now. It's a 45 gallon plastic Rubbermaid tote. I still have the heating pad on one side on top of the box. I cover that side with an open box and towels on top. It's cozy and he seems to like it. I don't like it because it's to small. I have to keep him inside until I find someone. I use puppy pads. He's lifting the corners and eats bits of pieces now. I definitely need something large. This duck is too smart. How about pine shavings, will he eat them too?. Yesterday I noticed his leg (where it bends) a round red spot, maybe a sore from sitting. Like a bed sore in adults. I read somewhere that you recommend Vetericyn for poultry. If Miss Lydia likes it, must be safe. Natural with no antibiotics. I bought it and soak the gauze and apply it gently 3 times a day. Poor little guy it must hurt. I also think he needs like an arthritis foam or pad like people use on dogs to relieve pressure for animals with arthritis. I don't want him to get sores. What can I use to keep him indoors intil someone adopts him? Ty in advace. I so new at this, just trying my best.

I know your trying your best and I wish so much I could help I just don't know anyone who could take him. My pastor and family have a camp ground here and a large pond which has been closed over winter 3 weeks ago they went out to make sure everything was okay and someone had dumped two gorgeous Muscovy drakes on their pond, they have no idea where they came from and the wife is terrified of birds. They have been raised by people because they are friendly. Breaks my heart that they were dumped. So you see it's very hard to find someone to adopt especially drakes they have such a bad rap and most won't take the time to work with them to teach them to respect and understand where their place is. If I didn't have 2 drakes a gander and 2 roosters I'd take your boy in a minute which would be extremely hard since we live very far apart. I'll keep praying some one will adopt your baby soon. they really grow so fast
as for where to keep him when my drake was still inside I was lucky enough to have a xlarge dog kennel so that is where he stayed when we weren't outside. Yes use thick pine shaving with pee pads under. Place a plastic table cloth of something similar under it to catch the shaving that fall out. I have a plastic dog kennel not an all wire one. Do you let him pout for exercise? so he can walk around maybe a kitchen where there isn't carpet?

Great idea. I'll have to get a plastic dog kennel if they're not to expensive. The rest is not expensive. I do let him walk in the kitchen. I put newspapers on the floor. He seems to enjoy it. He can exercise and stretch his legs. Ty

Ty Miss Lydia, I know you're really trying hard to help me. Like you say, paraphrasing...it's not easy to find someone. So sad! how can people dump pets they raise. I bet those two muscovies where their pets. We do agree Quacky is a HE? Your so kind when you say if you didn't have drakes already you'd take this big boy. Every little bit of help counts. I just worry about him. Wish I could keep him, unfortunately I can't. I just don't want to give him to anyone. I know you understand me. I pray every day that someone comes up.
