Barred Plymouth Rocks vs. Rhode Island Reds

I bred a wyandotte to a barred hen got nice blue and black hens and barred males that I ate lol

oooh, i have a GLW pullet and I’m really wanting to breed her with my BR cockerel, Atlas, this spring. Would all of the offspring end up being barred? I don’t suppose you have any pictures? I’d love to see what I might expect

What about a BR/RIR? Of course, Burt looks more like a BR than anything, he does have some leakage!

A barred rooster over solid hen all would be barred

I will admit, RIR roosters are more handsome than rocks! But a good quality rock's barring looks dazzling.

True. It's hard to find nice Rocks. Good Sheperd Poultry had some very nice Rocks. His website doesn't come up anymore. I goes to a medical site???

I never had a Barred Rock or any type of Rock color variation.
I only dealt with RIR...hatchery strains. I found them lovely. RIR happen to my childhood favorite breed for their beautiful mahogany red color.

Love the rocks , sweet temperament and pretty but I have a mixed flock 2 of each different breed and one obnoxious rooster that is a dual purpose ( supposed to be a pullet ,guess he’s not dual purpose )

i have two blues and two blacks from my barred rock hens which both passed away before two years old
next week this first blue hen should be a mommy to an easter egger chick her bf is a blue ameraucana
