Hey y’all,

I need some old wives treatments for a barred rock that may have eaten moldy food and is not able to stand well.

I’ve isolated her and given her food and water which she will eat a little of, but her tail is down and she is wobbly.

I’ve been reading about fungal issues after eating moldy food and about 2 week ago I noticed that there had been some mold in the snacks I was giving them.

now I’m wondering if that’s it. I’ve read about vinegar and copper sulfate in the water. Not sure where to find those things but looking. If anyone has suggestions I will take them gladly.

I can’t afford to take her to the vet as I’ve been out of work for a couple months. I need to try and treat her myself.

Hello @Pelagic2 and welcome to BYC :frow

To help with intoxication issues you could use milk thistle seeds (as a tea or added to her feed) and/or medicinal charcoal.

Tail down could hint to some issue of her reproductive tract, when did she last lay an egg?

Everyone’s been slowing down for the winter. In the last two days were very rainy. I think her last egg was probably threedays ago. Are there items I can pick up at a CVS or grocery store that can help me handle this?

Details of basic vitamin or treatment would be great.

What is CVS? As I do not live in the U.S. I am not familiar with the range of goods in your grocery stores.
But I think that medicinal/activated charcoal will be easily available just as milk thistle seeds or tea. Try a drug store.

Vent seems ok. I isolated her and she is eating and drinking. She had watery stool for the morning, but seems to be getting more firm through the night. Gave her poultry electrolytes and apple cider vinegar/garlic /milk thistle tea in water (diluted) will see how she is today.

CVS is a retail pharmacy chain (drug store). They offer a lot in the OTC range and I suspect you'll be able to find what is being suggested. I wish you the best

Hopefully she gets better.

I would only have her drink one additive at a time and not mix it all together, as this could even limit or restrict the beneficial effects each of them has.
