Barred rock 3 weeks old, pullet or cockerel?

I got them when they were about a week old. It was only the breeders second batch of chicks ever so I really was talking a chance anyway I guess. I think this one could be a girl though, am I wrong? It really could be wishful thinking but I really wanted some barred Plymouth Rock girls. They are supposed to be so sweet. Mine are not so much. My ISA browns and barnevelders and even my ameraucanas love me. They all came from Tractor Supply so they should all be girls. I really hope my Australorp is a girl, I got her from the same person as the barred rocks. This one looks like it could be a girl to me though, what do you think? (The bottom or right chick in the last pic)
It may be a girl.

I'm a little upset....How do you get rid of unwanted roosters or trade for girls? I really don't know, that is how new I am at all this. I'll take pictures of my australorp in the morning and make a new post to see if she is a girl, I'm crossing my fingers, lol.

So, that is good that the breeder was inexperienced, she probably just doesn't know how to sex properly, or got confused. We have every reason to believe they will be a great breeder, but just need some more info and experience.

I would reach out the them to let them know. My friend down the road that breeds will trade out roosters, since she knows she isn't good at sexing either. She has to quarantine birds since they have been with another flock, and some breeders won't trade out because of this. The breeder should at least give you something back if they sold these to you as "pullets".

I have had great luck finding new homes for roosters and craigslist and the neighborhood forum. I have even had people pay for them when they are pure bred, and those look pure BR to me, so someone may want those genetics for their flock. Demand on roosters will vary depending upon where you live. Are you rural or urban?

The austrolorp may be harder to sex at this age, but go ahead and post, maybe we can tell something. BR can be sexed pretty reliably at his age because males have yellow legs that are thicker, more white feathers and a prominent comb. Females will typically have dark legs that are thinner, more black feathers and a smaller comb.

The leg colors will usually tell you right after they have hatched even. I have read that the leg color can be wrong sometimes, but I have never seen it personally. There is also some detail about the feathers on their head that can help to sex chicks as well.
