Barred rock ameraucana cross cockerel?

I love this chick and am really hoping it’s a hen but am not good at sexing barred/cuckoo birds. It’s comb is pretty bright but it has really no wattles. It’s 8 weeks old.


Last pic is after I made a sound to get its attention so it’s all alert. Doesn’t normally stand like that.

That's a cockerel.

The beard is inhibiting waddle size... but if you look closely you can see how red they are.

Was the cross with a barred hen or cock? If it was the hen that confirms my assessment.

Was either black or splash hen. I had another one get the cheeks and beard but he had a big comb. Also got a gray barred rock from those 3 eggs. Was super cool friend gave them to me.

What most people refer to as grey in chickens is most like blue. I saw someone looking for barred blue Rocks just last week on here, I think.

One of my favorite chicken colors.
