Barred Rock and lame meat hen together?

I have a 3 week old meat bird from my sons kindergarten class. It has a twisted leg and can barely get around. Now that we have him, we want more! I'd really like egg layers (only 2). Can I put a Barred Rock or Rhode Island Red with the lame chick? I don't know what their personalities are like. I was also wondering about the Polish breeds..they look sooo cool!! Do they lay eggs?
