Lots of posts on this - barred rock sight sexing. My first six chicks hatched yesterday and one is a barred rock but couldn't decide although leaning to a Male from what I've read :(

It's too young to sex with any certainty at this point, but given the black wash on the front of the legs, I'm leaning toward female. When it feathers out, you should be able to sex it as males have lighter barring than females.

Is it pure barred Rock, as in both parents were barred Rocks? It doesn't have much of a head spot is why I'm asking. If it's pure, it should be female.

It is meant to be pure. I was worried as the dark didn't go to tips of toes and I hadn't seen a head spot like this one.

Good to hear others see female.

I'll make another post with all the chicks when they are older.
