Hi there, I got 2 barred rock chicks from TSC that were labeled pullets, but I swear their patterning looks different from eachother...although I don't know if that means anything. Also one seems to be developing feathers at a slower rate, I read that could be common in opposite sex but also just different development. Also pictured are two buff orpingtons, one of which is a bit beefier then the other. So tell me what you think, any Insight is appreciated 😀

3 weeks is a little young to know for sure, but I’d bet they’re all pullets, including the buffs.

BR cockerels generally have much lighter feathering than pullets.

I have been growing and hatching Barred Rocks for about 5 years now… they are one of my favorite breeds.

I appreciate your answer and apologies for not answering, I couldn't find the thread and thought it disappeared:(
Is it possible for pullets the seems grayish instead of black or you know like how a printer runs out of toner lol
And do they develop tail feathers differently? One has a long tail and the other is so short

This is them now

It’s possible but generally cockerels have lighter feathering and longer tails.
