Barred rock chicks? Age? Gender?? Please help.

Can anyone please help? We have these two barred rock chicks that we don not know the age or gender of. At first we were sure 2 girls but now looking at the younger ones comb we are thinking boy? Any help would be great. Thanks

I would almost say they are cuckoo maran chicks, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I think the top one is a boy, and the second might be a girl.

I agree with MyPetNugget. They are Cuckoo Marans and not Barred Rocks. Barred Rocks have yellow legs, these very light slate or pinkish colored legs. I'm also leaning toward a male on the top one and a female on the bottom one.

Their color pattern also looks cuckoo, not barred. Just another indication.

I think they look like mixed breed birds. The redder-combed bird does look male, but the color is too dark for a pure bred barred or cuckoo bird.
