barred rock chicks: cockerel or pullet?

These chicks are pure barred rock and were hatched on May 10th and May 11th. Number 1 and Number 3 were hatched on May 10th and the rest on May 11th.

I labeled the chicks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 in all of the pictures for identification. ( I took several while they were drinking in order to get some clear standing still shots).

Yes, the coloring is off because they are under a red heat lamp.

The coloring is off but also the lighting is hitting some of the chicks more than others, which makes it difficult to compare them.

In general, the head spots on females should show a crisper border between the white spot and the black of the rest of the body. Whereas males will have a fuzzier, less distinct border between the two areas.

And the wing feathers will also show the difference. Males will appear lighter because they have wider white bars. Female feathers will be darker because the white bars are thinner.
