Barred Rock chicks!

Can anyone help? I’m thinking the first two are in question becuase they seem so much lighter.

The group is all darker. All black one is my misfit Asian I took home from work thinking she would die... but she didn’t lol.

Could the first two just have more adult feathers?

They were bought as pullets however I realize vent sexing from a hatchery is maybe about 90% accurate.

Unless something's really messed up with your chickens, the first four pics are of cockerels. I'm thinking you got straight run by accident (mislabelled at the feed store?) because hatcheries only guarantee 90% accuracy. Their actual accuracy tends to be closer to 97%. EDT: Making two males out of a batch of five(?) highly unlikely.

I have had some that were a little lighter and still female due to hatchery quality and differences.

But that's fairly extreme and I think you might be right! Notice the dark wash on the legs is lighter as well... which is a sex link trait, females being darker.

Second one down in the first row looks like it might have a little pasty butt.

Unless the hatchery birds are as poor quality as George here, it should work well.

George (poor, ugly boy) is Barred Rock + game +EE+ silkie. He is, however, homozygous barred

Yup I brought home 5 BR total.

The mislabeling would have to had been done at the hatchery as I work at the store and I picked these guys up at the post office and unboxed them from the Barred rock pullet box myself.
They went straight into my box to take home.
