She is definitely a SHE! She started laying 1st out of all my pullets this year (aside from the Cornish Rocks) even though she is one of the youngest I have. And either she could win an award for being the BR with the worst barring, or she is something other than a BR or a BR cross. Whatever she is, she is wonderfully sweet and lays beautiful dark brown eggs... sometimes they're even speckled.

She could be a BR cross, with the BR as the sire, giving her barring, but having it muddied by her mother. In fact, I'd bet on it. As I mentioned previously, Cuban Longtails hatched a few of mine with my BR roo over Buff Orp, RIR, etc. They did look similar. Barbara is pretty!
