Barred Rock gender

My 2 barred rocks are from Meyer. They are 12 weeks now. One of their legs got a lot darker with age. One had a large head spot also. Started with a slight wash. Here are some pics of them growing up. They are sexed pullets. They are so sweet and are everyone’s favorites.

They should have both had head spots, if tiny ones. The headspot is an indicator of the presence of the barring gene.

The one girl does have the boy style head spot like mine. They do look like they have more black in the feathers on the photos that look around 2 weeks than mine. Hmmm...fingers crossed; it seems like there may still be hope. I'll love him anyway, but another roo, much less 2 more roos, is not a complication I'm looking forward to and 50/50 is not what you should get when ordering pullets :/

Her head spot was very large and not well defined. Plus one of their legs were only lightly washed and toes were all orange I remember. It took awhile for that ones legs to darken.
50/50 is not what we asked for! Plus you didn’t even ask for it:(. Fingers crossed for you :fl:fl:fl.
My Easter egger from them did end up to be a cockerel. My daughter was very sad. It was the only EE we ordered. So we got 4 more barred rocks locally since we have to rehome Easter. They are 5 weeks now and just starting to integrate with the big chicks. I have them separated by fencing. Why was Easter not a girl:barnie??? Integrating is pain lol!

Here is a pic of my EE from Meyer if you want to compare lol. first 2 pics 1 week. 2nd 2 weeks. 3rd was probably 4. Last was 9 weeks. I need to take a more recent to send in to get my refund.
He is not friendly anymore, but also is not aggressive either.
Bonus: you can also see one of my barred rocks legs really well in one of the first pictures.

Your ee's got really cool coloring, though!
I'm convinced Meyer throws in boys on purpose; they seem to have much more than a 10% error rate.
Fingers crossed I've at least got some girls in the bunch!

Hopefully you have at least one girl lol!
Yes, Easter is pretty and looks even prettier now. He has a lot of rooster red on his shoulders and has iridescent green, beautiful tail feathers. Sadly, we cannot keep him when he starts to crow. He does have a home to go to and will be spared the stew pot.

So glad to hear you found him a good home! Mine will be getting deslorelin implants to hopefully keep them quiet. My ee that I think is a boy, he's in the back of the pics, is starting to come in black and white, so we shall see. The other ee is the brown and tan partridge so far. The forth is a black copper marans, I ordered a golden cuckoo maran, and they are supposedly really hard to sex...so far, looks like a girl, no copper coming in yet, but it's early.

We ordered from Meyer's this fall and when I asked they said they have a 100% sex guarantee. If it is supposed to be a pullet they will replace it for free. We ordered 5 pullets and the "meal maker" and it was also a girl.

I was just reading about that implant! I wouldn’t have a clue where to get it though.

I love the white and black Easter Eggers. So pretty and they they do end up girls sometimes! You just don’t want red appearing on the wings:barnie! I think I read every Easter egger sexing thread at BYC fretting over Easter:lau, and I did see black and white girls.
