That technique doesn't work so well with hatchery-bred chicks. If you bought straight run, you'll likely be able to see the difference by 4 weeks, 8 at the very latest.I can’t seem to find it now however there was a forum on here where right off the bat the person showed how to sex day old barred rock chicks by the spot on head and the color of legs....hmmmmm wonder where it went
Bummer well maybe not...if I may not end up with 3 roosters lolThat technique doesn't work so well with hatchery-bred chicks. If you bought straight run, you'll likely be able to see the difference by 4 weeks, 8 at the very latest.

Sounds like chicken math has struck him pretty hard.Sort of updated pics lol I’m now for sure 3 boys 1 girl lol the one I was thinking was a girl is darker than the others as well as has tail feathers and wing feathers came before the other 3. It’s hard to tell in the pics but in the group she is up top and the single pic is her. I will see if I can get better pics tomorrow and see what y’all think. O and the hubby decided to grab some 50 cent 3 day old chicks at tsc yesterday I said pullets and only 4 since the last group of 8 looks like only 3 girls and 5 boys...he settled on 6...daughter (10) called to rat him out he got 8 View attachment 1747422View attachment 1747423
Chicks r definately irresistible! I told him pullets bc last batch holds 5 out of 8 cockerels and we know all roosters go to freezer except my b.orpington so I wanted more layers however he said the extra 4 jumped in the box so he felt bad and decided they needed a home hahaha it has turned into a chicken obsession!Sounds like chicken math has struck him pretty hard.
Chicks are just irresistible.
