Barred Rock Laid GREEN Eggs?!?!

GC-Raptor, nice eggs and absolutely GORGEOUS Barred Rock ladies! Barred Rocks are at the top of our favorites list for the breeds we have. :)

Did you have any Easter Egger hens before the fox attack?

Our Barred Rocks are primarily from Murray McMurray. We got them the week of March 26th of this year. We also got 6 from Orscheln’s. They were SUPPOSED to be pullets. Four of the six were roosters!

But Token is a Murray McMurray hen. As I mentioned above, they each have subtil differences in thrir combs and we took copious notes of these differences along with minor plumsge subtilties as they grew. :)

The only EEs we have are two rooster of the same age that we rescued from the $1 “Frypan Special” bin at Orscheln’s.

Can you post a few pictures of token?

The only explanation is she had a blue egg laying gene in her background. Hatchery chickens are not really pure bred as far as the SOP goes.

I have mixed flocks and have had many cross bred chicks hatch here, and at adulthood one may look outwardly like a hatchery RIR, or hatchery Barred Rock, etc. and could be easily passed off as.
