So I have to say, I’m very impressed with my little barred rock hen “Dumpling”. She is by far the most friendly of the chicken breeds we own. She readily jumps in our lap, arms, wants to sit on our shoulder and nuzzle our neck. I wish I would have purchased more Barred Rocks. She also comes when called like a dog. So cute. We hand raised six little hens, (buff o., Easter Eggers, and silver laced Wyandotte) spent many hours hand feeding/petting them. The Buff Orpington is the most docile, she isn’t actively searching you out like the BR tho.

Any one else find that BR are so friendly? The one downside she is a screamer when she doesn’t get what she wants 😂

They sure are sweet! Along with our barred rocks, one of our silver laced wyandottes will jump from the ground onto my shoulder!
