It doesn't look like a purebred rock with those gold feathers.View attachment 1581809 This is my barred rock Mr Spot @ 2yrs ol
That’s what I was thinkingIt doesn't look like a purebred rock with those gold feathers.
I'm not sure what hatchery you are using. My hatchery barred rock roosters are never laced with gold, and have dark tails. Mine are gorgeous roosters that are a good representation of a hatchery barred rock. I'm sure what you are seeing is people who think their birds are barred rock but most are probably black sex link roosters, or other mixes. Its just a gold base gene instead of silver base on his barred rock. It actually looks more like a plymouth rock type than most of the hatchery barred rocks people post here.
That being said they all look more like cuckoo rocks instead of barred rocks lol.
The hatchery Ive purchased from does not have this problem. I was just stating that this rooster has the gold & barred based gene instead of silver and barred. His body type looks nicer than most hatchery stock even if hes no more of a purebred than any hatchery stock. But I agree its coloration looks more like a sexlink than a barred rock because of the gold gene. CheersI'm not sure what hatchery you are using.
