Barred Rock Rooster or Hen

Sounded like butternut this morning. It was quite a silly crow. We will have to find him a new home.

This is what he has turned into. He is picking on his girls a little. About 4 months along.

You don't want to breed that one anyway, so a new home would be a good idea. Has some serious side sprigs on that weird comb, bad body shape, etc. If you want a good BR male, you can find much nicer ones, though a good tempered rooster is a nice thing, if he's easygoing. I wouldn't keep him just because of the comb.

So far he is super nice to us and quite a character. To bad about his comb because I think his coloring is cool. Will see how he finishes up. Seems like he is still changing.

Temperament is paramount to me so it's great that he's a good guy so far.

I love BRs, my favorite, but you should know that the genetics that cause his comb deformity will pass on to chicks. Yes, he's still changing. They wont really mature fully until they pass a year old, the BRs. And the heritage types take longer even.

FYI - He became one mean Rooster!!! He is 21 weeks and legs are flying. A rake works well to keep him at bay but with smaller children he is going to be leaving our home.
