Barred Rock Rooster?

Hello ^_^

I have a 5 1/2 Week Old Barred Rock that I'm thinking (but desperately hoping is not) a cockerel. My city doesn't allow for such and I have grown quite attached to this little one.

Unfortunately I only have one Barred Rock chicken so I have no reference with which to compare this poor gal (guy?).

Any ideas? Any feedback at all would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Definitely a cockerel. His overall coloring is lighter than a female and the early presence of pink wattles gives it away.

In another week? If that comb turns red and the little red wattles sprout even more? 100% cockerel.

The pullets do not sprout combs and wattles until later in sexual maturity. The pullet's comb will remain almost yellow.

Thanks everyone! You all confirmed my worst fear ^_~ but it gives me a chance to find a proper home for this (now official) Guy. ^_^
