Barred Rock too?

Sorry the title it supposed to say “barred rock roo?” Stupid autocorrect. This is a hatchery chick, about 6 weeks old now. Only got 1 so I have no one to compare it to. Did I get unlucky and pull the rooster from a clutch of baby pullets?

that's a largish comb for a pullet of that age, but its not very red. I'm going to say cockerel.

I would suspect so, but you might post back in 2 weeks or so with an update. Barring looks a little on the light side and the comb and wattles look like they're starting to possibly color in

I would say I'm leaning toward cockerel, but not 100% convinced. Can you post more pictures in maybe two weeks? If it's a cockerel it'll be more obvious by then.

I'm going to say pullet. The dark wash on the legs and the darker feather pattern versus the brighter barring on a young cockerel leads me to think it is a pullet.

Yeah, 11 almost 12 weeks if my math is correct.

My barred rock hen developed quickly and had me worried too. Looks a lot like my girl did as a pullet. Hopefully it’s a girl!
