Barred Rock x Buff Orpington chick color question

Just realized I posted a pic in another thread that had all the colors I got from this cross showing more what I expect their final coloration to be. When I've looked at other old threads on crosses, I've appreciated it when people showed later pics of how the chicks developed, so I will do the same here for anyone who happens across the thread later.

Both chicks from mom #1 are cockerels, and both from mom #2 are pullets. Cockerels are in the back in the photo below and one of the pullets is in front - the other pullet that isn't pictured is also white like this one. Wish I could get a pic of the white cockerel with his wings out, since he has wide black stripes on his primaries that are mostly hidden when his wings are folded up.

It's just dominant white(you can see it faintly at the end of the hens tail feathers) Buff Orps and many Self Buff breeds are known to carry dominant white, the issue is that with two copies of dominant white the buff color is turn to a lemon color. So breeders look for heterozygous dominant white(which is the case on that hen)
Learn something new every day. Though I've never gotten white chicks through Buff Orpington X Barred Rock crossings. Just black female chicks with brown faces, & males of dark grey penguin with yellow faces, & a headspot. Is all I've ever gotten.

It seems like your barred rock isn’t purebred, and has a copy of the columbian gene, making his “white” offspring self silver (silver version of a buff orp) and silver columbian with the barring gene, like a Delaware.
