Barred Rock

Does anyone have barred rock eggs that is in the incubator or that has hatched recently. Do you guys have good luck with them hatching?

Are they standard bred birds? That can be a problem with some old lines and I'm thinking of Barred Plymouth Rock as I say this. Vigor starts to decline the longer a line has been closed and this can result in much lower hatching rates. Other than that there is no difference in Plymouth Rock eggs to others. Marans eggs they say need a little more attention.

Well ask them if the line has hatching problems. A few lines I know of have lost some vigor and hatch rates suffer. It will be line specific so your friend would know. It is just as likely that it's your still figuring out your incubation equipment.
