Anyone know if this is a pullet or cockerel?

Much too young. Also looks like it may be a CM. Hard to tell for certain with the bad lighting though.

Post updated pics once the chick is 6 weeks old. Make sure it is standing naturally and in good natural lighting.

Yes, it's to early to tell, and it is a Cuckoo Maran. Which is totally fine, b/c they're supposed to lay dark eggs.(2/3 of mine don't)

I'm going out on a limb here and saying it's a pullet.

If those are the parent stock, they look well bred.

I’ll take a picture in the natural light, the legs are pretty dark though.
I got my chickens from a well known breeder and neither of us have any marans.
just so excited since it’s my first hatch from my own flock and hoping for at least one hen

Being from a good breeder and nice stock, I believe this is a pullet.
