Barred Rocks or Cuckoo Marans?

I hope I posted in the right post. I resently bought 6 BR pullets well what I thought was a BR but know i'm wondering if their Cuckoo Marans. How do you tell the difference between the two ? One of the pullets has yellow legs while the rest have white legs.Sorry no pics , their around 8 weeks old.

BR single comb, yellow legs... Marans single comb white legs.

Thats a 100% accurate like from chicks to adult birds the barred rocks will have yellow legs and the Marans will have White? Right?

I don't recall my BR babies having anything but yellow legs with a blush of black up the front. So I'm not positive... Sorry. That was just what I've learned about the differences... check the chicks of both out on feathersite and see. Awesome reference.

Actually, I have seen a lot of barred rocks with white legs. I dont know where it comes from, there must be a line from hatchery stock. Barred rocks are supposed to have yellow legs, but if they dont, it doesnt mean they aren't.

My hens yellow legs end up white as they lay more and more eggs, but they never start out white. That's the natural bleaching process.

I also have BR pullets. One of them has feathered feet (yellow legs like the others) but I was told the feathered feet was a dead giveaway for a cuckoo. Anybody else?

When someone has crossed the two breeds, it sure muddies the waters. Could be that's what's happened. Usually, the white skin wins out since it's dominant.
