yeah. it's the only place to find peace. and ou can't see my coop from the house even though we only have a couple of acres because it is completely surrounded by trees. so it's a nice private place to read and it stays cool up there even in the summer. i only have one barred rock. Her name is Wind because she liked to run when she was young. she's a year old now. and i think she might've laid her first egg yesterday. this is her.

i also have roosters. This is Mouse.

and this is Sky who just started crowing a couple of days ago.

I lost one of my barred rock hens today! My husband told me it looks like it was a dog attack. Unfortunately, he didn't see it. I'm truly saddened by her loss. I'm out of town and so annoyed by this.

How awful! This happened to me last year. We saw the culprit carrying my hen, though. We lost him, but found out where he lived. The owner said it wasn't her dog, then he came up the driveway with dirt all over his face! No hen. But she had some hens, so I told her she could pay for my hen or give me one of hers in trade. Loose dogs are the worst! Too bad you can't growl at the owner.

yeah one of my neighbors lost two sheep to a pack of pit bulls. the sheep were shredded. i didn't even know that domestic dogs would go after livestock like that but our landlord swore it was dogs and not coyotes. and my own dogs killed my first hen and two stray sexlinks that i had rescued when they came into m yard all skinny and pitiful.
