This is my favorite breed. They are so easy going, also they are laid back and dont get as upset with changes to their routine. I have 4 pullets I got 3/11 and they are so easy to handle already and interested in everything.

I don't want to be the barer of bad news but,
Your rooster isn't a Barred Rock. He has a Pea comb and also looks to have some feathering down his shanks he could be a Brahma/ Barred Rock cross.

I was told when i got him he was a barred rock came from mcmurry hatchery....i do know his comb got a little frost bite from what previous owner told me. does mcmurry have crossed chickens, if so will not buy from them.
I just did a quick search and he maybe a black sex link rooster. i still love him but now my barred rock eggs will not be pure....

In your second pic. his comb looks somewhat a single comb.
Black Sex-link was another thought with the amount of non-bared feathers he has.
As far as McMurray Hatchery selling crossed chickens, it is hard to say but they do sell Sex-links, "Araucanas"/Americanas/Easter Eggers, and some breeds do come with incorrect type and or comb. All of them I would consider crossed chickens and or poorly bred.
