Well i got some Hens and a rooster today ( I Did not want a Rooster and he might be a meal after he is healthy )
Red sex linked hens and Road island Red Rooster .. sadly there not very healthy WAY under weight and wormy
But i had to take them , they was 6 hens and a rooster living in 4 x 5 foot mud pit no protection from the elements or even a dry place to stand

Sooo Off to Rodgers Mills i went .. and bought all the things they recommended Wayzine & Sulmet witch i was getting anyhow , some shots Vet Rx , some vitamix and a Small bag of ( 5 lbs) medicated feed a special amount they sell just for 4h kids.
So now instead of having laying hen to make eggs ive got sickly hens that ive gotta get in better health .. but no way i was leaving them poor chickens in that mess !!!

Glad you could rescue them

Though you're right, sounds like they're a long way from laying. Keep us updated on how they do!

thanks i will,
one of the hens is a bit more healthy then the others and stays to its self , i think he must have just got it and its not part of the established pecking order ..

i know chickens dont really need heat but i was thinking while they was down and recovering would it be a good idea to provide some, so there food could be more used for adding body weight ?

Man I miss the chat room this site used to have .
Anyhow I swear these chickens are already doing a bit better . looking better . maybe just getting dry and clean , and good food helped a little
