Barred Rocks

It is nine months old. The tail feathers look like rooster. The othet day I saw this one showing the hens where some food was on the ground.I am baffled.

I don't see any sickle feathers, and the body shape looks like a hen. I'd say a Hen. But I'm not positive.

I agree (if we are speaking of the lone chicken above...not the three in original post). Although the comb is pretty big, I don't see the tell-tale signs of a roo when it comes to the feathers. Age would help!

Maybe it's one of those rare chickens that has both male and female characteristics? If it's 9 months old, I still say I think it's a girl...but...at that age she should have been laying by now. Maybe it IS a cockerel. My BR is 10 months old, and looks the same as he did a month ago. Here's a pic:

am I male or female?

At nine months old, there would be very obvious hackle and saddle feathers. Even though the comb is big, I say girl. She's probably really close to laying.

I'm pretty sure that's a Hen. At nine months old you would see Sickle feathers. She has a pretty big comb though. I've heard that in a flock that has no roosters a hen will sometimes start acting like a rooster.

If the age is correct, that's a hen - I see no cockerel characteristics.
