Barring?

I don't think it is barring. I think its just uneven blue.
Barring is hard to see on young blue chicks but seems easier to me since working with lavender with barring. Now that's hard to see.
I think its not barred and a female.

I was only going by info given.
In you're original post it says mom is a barred rock.
So idk if you're looking for genetic info you need to give full info about parents.

I was saying it would be barred rock if it was barring like I thought. Sorry if I worded it wrong

Are you saying that if the mother was barred Rock then the chick has to have barring?

Just because it doesn’t have barring doesn’t mean the barred Rock wasn't the mother.

Barred rooster to any non barred hen equals all barred offspring.

Non barred rooster to a barred hen equals non barred females and barred males. Aka sex-linked chicks

OP: It doesn't look like barring to me either. Many chicks grow out with some white tipping until the feathers come in fully (a lot of my black feathered birds had white wing tipping). Barring would be all the way up the wing....and yes, if barred, and the mother BR, and dad non-barred, barring on chick would indicate male.

I think you've got a blue chick, gender to be determined.
