I have 2 RIR's. I got them 10 weeks ago. I've now figured out I have a roo and a hen. I think I'll keep the roo and get 1 or 2 more chicks (hopefully girls).
So, my question is this: How do I know if the eggs layed are fertilized? Of course I don't have eggs yet, but I'm planning ahead. I wouldn't mind hatching a few just so my kiddos can witness it but I'm mainly interested in eggs to eat.
Ok, now bash me for being so ignorant in the ways of chickens.
