Bassett hound in NJ

Sorry!

I haven't been online for a couple of days. Mouse batteries went dead. And I don't really leave the house unless very necessary. I live in a rural area and everything is at least 10miles in any direction....Anyway......I'm back and I am still interested in the Basset.
I called my sister in VA. But she won't be taking a vacation until next year. That is when she will be planning a trip down. She works at a law office and can't get the time off.
My mother is there now. But will be flying back to Fl. when she is done visiting with my sister. She isn't due to come home until the end of the year.
If you can't place her, Let me know...we can wait until September.

How is she with the chickens? I have two bassets and the younger one does need a friend and play mate for when the old one bless her sole leaves us which should only be a few years now.

She is all over BYC!!!!!!!!!!
One post.........SALLY the Basset is HERE!!!
I got double the surprises today!!!!!!WHOO HOO!!!Advise please?

But anyway....I am crazy about her. Already taught her not to zoom out the door when it's opened.
I make her sit in front of the open door until I am ready. Then I give her the command to come outside and out she comes!
She runs the yard with the Great Dane. But always supervised. I never leave her out alone. I am always within earshot. So when I call her, So far she is listening. I think she is a very smart dog.

I just look at her make a clicking noise to get her attention. Point downwards and she sits!!! JUST LIKE THAT! Yes, she is very smart.
By the way, great job on housebreaking her. Glad I don't have too!

She is smart! Did you try and have her sit then beg for a treat? Say sit then beg and up she will go! My daughter taught her that. She wasnt allowed to run out the door here either,even though run is one of her favorite things! We had two doors and one she would shove open the first and get to the second one. I had just started making them wait at the first door but the puppy had to pee!! hehehe He needed to get out quick! She is so full of energy. Sorry I did not get to call you back today. Our machine is funky and I am bad at checking it. I will try tomorrow.
