First I filled up a tub of water. I put a little shampoo and conditioner.

Then I caught Amy, she is my brahma I am bathing. It wasn't that hard.

So I started out by dipping in her feet. then I slowly put the rest of her in.

BTW, she did get away once! lol!
If you do this, please make sure you do not get any water or soap near your hens face!

Here I am scrubbing her up! I used some body wash and conditioner. Maybe I should have done shampoo, but oh well... View attachment 1075278

Nice and dry! She is shaking out her feathers!
I gave my full grown Brahma hen and even larger rooster each a bath today. They calm down when they’re in the warm water and also had shampoo and a little dawn dishwasher soap to try to cut through some of the grind on their feet. I think they enjoyed it.

What a sweetheart! Good idea to give her a treat after.
Do you bathe them often? Do you warm up the water? Not sure how I could get my gals to cooperate for that.
No, I do not bathe them often. Only when it seems necessary, although they seem to enjoy it so in the warm weather, maybe I should. It’s an opportunity to handle the Chickens and examine them. I gave a bath to her because she had a lot of poopy feathers and it looked like her butt was uncomfortable, because she was picking at it. And for him, he has huge claw-like feet and feathers down their legs and on their feet, that pick up a lot of dirt. I think he enjoyed the foot massage. For sure use warm water and put some sort of shampoo or something in there. Yes they get very calm when they’re in the warm water is what I found. Even my big hefty Brahma rooster was calm in the water and when wrapped in the towel and especially if you cover their head they’ll be calm. ☺️
