bathing chicks

No. Don't bathe the chicks. It is much to cold and I can not imagine why they would need a bath. If they have poop on their bottoms use some peroxide on just that area.

I have a similar question. I bought some chicks at an auction that are about 4 or 5 weeks old. They have poop all over each other. (small cage at auction), Now that stink to high heaven and are all crusty. I didn't want to wash them off, but they are silkies that aren't very silkie.

No, you cannot bathe them until they are at least feathered out. They shouldn't need it. I can't think of any reason why they would unless you are not brooding them correctly. (ie: too crowded, wrong waterer, etc.)
