bator-final decision

I really seriously considered the Brower also.

But today I sent for a 1588 Genesis Hovabator, and not the Brinsea. I really really really considered the Brinsea, but I just KNOW I am going to want the extra room that the Genesis has. Quite a few more eggs fit in there.

And a LOT of people really seem to like the Genesis, too.

But I am not knocking the Brinsea (what do I know? Not much) but I agonized over it and sent for the Genesis.

I have the Oct 20 Advanced
it comes with a humidity digital read out and is compatible with the humidity pump attachment that will control your humidity for you
(would be awesome to have but pricey) but the humidity pump itself is NOT INCLUDED in this model.
There is a version it is included with but my advanced came with autoturner and digital readouts making it compatible if I ever want to spend the extra $134 bucks for the humidity pump attachment.
The Oct 20 Advanced EX is the one that comes with the humidity controller in the package.
Oct 20 Advanced is $332
Oct 20 Advanced EX is $449

advantage is it will last for years and years and you don't pay extra shipping for the turner and humidifier

just wanted to be clear as we encourage you to jump in and buy brinsea
I'm on my second hatch
Really easy to incubate with. No temp spikes
easy to monitor the humidity with the factory calibrated digital read out
very happy with mine

It was a oct40. But they are all the same design. I understand they are good ones and bad ones in most anything we buy. But brinseas's are in my op[inion poor design with cheap inaccurate componants. You are correct lyon's are expensive but so is a brinsea. You get what you pay. A lyon's is hands down a better machine and worth the money if you want a table top. Ipersonally would buy a dickey or gqf cabinet.

I have been very impressed with my Brinsea Eco 20 with the auto-turner cradle. I had a 100% hatch rate on 24 shipped eggs from another BYC member. Even though I got the Eco, the incubator kept the temperature very, very accurately, and the humidity was no problem, either. My Eco came with a liquid filled thermometer (much like an older medical thermometer), but it is positioned so that it is very easy to read. I added the Springfield thermometer/ hygrometer, and used a small strip of heavy duty double stick tape to fix it to the inside of the top--so that it was easy to view. The Brinsea was no trouble at all. I just checked the temp. and water trough daily and it worked like a charm--I got 24 cute little fuzzies who all hatched clean and healthy.

You are entitled to your opinion, but it is childish to say "poor design, cheap components" without explaining WHY it is "poor design" and WHICH are the "cheap" components.

The Brinseas body is heavy duty molded plastic, sturdy, washable and durable, surely not "cheap", the "Octagon" design of Brinsea is not "poor" but ingenious, it allows hand turning without opening the bator, eliminates any possibility of eggs getting caught in the mechanism.

Do you know any other incubator which can do that?

The thermostat is very good quality since it keeps rock solid temperature even if the room temperature swings.

Brinsea has good and even air flow through, I measured the temp in various spots with digital temp probe, temperatures holds the same in every spot.

More expensive Brinsea models have a heating element embedded in the cover body, which assures excellent heat distribution, and they have 2 fans.

Is that "bad design" according to you?

Lyon Roll X table top it is a good machine, but is NOT WORTH 600 to 700 bucks or whatever they are asking, since you can buy a cabinet bator for same or less and Lyon has the same footprint than a cabinet, meaning cabinet incubator will not take more desk space than Lyon RX.

Lyon Tx is a good bator too, but Brinsea beats it with price and larger capacity (Lyon tx $276 Brinsea Eco $159, now even less, on sale. Brinsea ECO 24 chicken eggs, Lyon 18 eggs.)

These are the hard facts you like it or not.
