I only set these eggs last week. Mixed in the 30 I got from my egg/chicken man..

The humidity is only 39. They were turned all the time..

What to do..

What do I do with this baby? Can I take it out and place in the bator were they hatch at the moment?

Help!

Please!

LOL, I did not knew I was still capable to be shocked like that!

I did move him..

Now I am watching the bator that must only hatch over two weeks like a hawk!

Is there anything I can do for this bator special for just in case there is more?

I bet you were shocked. That is the thing about collecting eggs in the situation you got yours from. Some may have been developing prior to placing in your incubator. Without candling you will not know about what to expect. Candling will be a chore for all those eggs but I think I would tackle it. Do you have the graph on how the air cell should look at various stages of development? I can send it to you if you wish but it is posted here in several places. You could take out 12 - 15 at a time and candle. Do you have another incubator free to use for the ones closer to hatching? If not the only thing to do is leave them in there and remove them as soon as you can to a nice warm brooder.

It seems like there is always something else you need to incubate eggs. I use a mini maglight flashlight. It has a pinpoint beam that is very good to use in candleing and you don't need to set anything up. Just carry the eggs to a dark closet and shine the light on the large end.

Congrats on you little cutie I hope that one is the first of many more.

Yes, I was deeply shocked. I couldn't believe my own eyes. Who takes a egg out from under a hen and pass it of as a fertile fresh egg? Luckily we don't speak each other lingo's.. We communicate by hand signals. Otherwise I might have completely lost my supply of extra eggs! I just feel like kicking myself. I had that eggs for a good 6 hours before I placed them (with mine) in a bator. Who knew how many died in that time.

I do candle.. but only between day 10 and 12. I haven't candled that box yet because it haven't even been a week yet. I don't candle earlier because i cant see. Maybe this pic will explain all. My home made candler..

I have seen the pics of how the eggs must look and how big the air sack must be at the different times, but I haven't studied it.. yet. I try to choose my battles carefully. There is so many things that must get done and what I must learn about, that candling just seemed less important. As long as I know if there is a chick or not, I was happy. Now things changed. You are right.. I will candle that bator tomorrow and try and figure out who is who in the zoo. I will make a plan.

On a lighter note.. My little surprise is doing fine! It is a small chick but fighting fit! Here all are together in the nursery that I put a partition in, between them and last weeks chicks.

When the bator hatch with the 91 eggs (even if my sucses rate is only 50%) I wont have enough nursery space, so we started building another one today.
