BATOR vs. Broody on shipped eggs. Candling thru Hatch Pics!

Update as of 8/25/10: Two of the five chicks are roosters. Simon (the half Silver Spangled Hamburg, half EE chick) is really interesting looking and is asserting his independence from his surrogate mama.
Here are a few pics of them at 4 weeks old:

These are the 'bator babies. I tried integrating them in with their brother and sister out w/ my broody mama in the tractor, but they stayed in two distinct groups, not wanting to mingle.

I really need to re-home these roos b/c I can't keep them. Any takers?

Aren't they? I can't wait to see them full grown! I sooooo wish I could keep a rooster. I just adopted one out tonight that's going to his new home tomorrow and am so sad about him leaving (but grateful for the adoption vs. the alternative).

Wow, they are pretty. You EE cross actually looks like a silver Lakenvelder Hamburg cross, although I have no idea how that coulda happened. Maybe my Lakenvelder roo was sneaky........lol. Thanks for the update. I was wondering how they were doing. Here is a pic of my silver Lakenvelder roo "Shadow". Sadly he is no longer with us thanks to a stray dog.

Wow, you're right! I was having a hard time seeing the EE in him, but I CAN See Lakenvelder in him. I am on my way in about 5 minutes to meet the adoptive homeowner. I'm relieved to have found a home for him with another BYCer. I think I'm going to keep Simon, the purebred SSH until he makes some babies.

Um, or not. Maybe Simon will have to live here after all. He didn't show up.

Well, for now it looks like I'LL be keeping him (at least until he starts to crow!).

Here are some updated photos of Simon and Sammy:

Simon still lives with us. He's working on his crowing.:

{edited to correct the names of the roosters, SIMON, the SSH, lives with us, Sammy, the SSH/Lakenvelder, does not. Silly me!}
